From there we drove up to Neah Bay and Cape Flattery, the most northwestern point of the U.S. We took a dirt road to an overlook of Tatoosh Island, just off Cape Flattery, but it was too foggy and we couldn't see it. It was pretty anyway. Since we had already done so much, we planned on coming back the next day to hike to Cape Flattery, but it was 'only a 1/2 mile hike' so we decided to go ahead and do it then. Ha ha! Another questionable 1/2 mile down hill all the way, only steeper, and another 342,618 steps, even steeper and higher!
Again, it was worth it!
That night we camped at an RV park (showers and Wi Fi (-: ) just outside Neah Bay, right by the Strait.
Another sign that I liked. (I like signs.)
We slept in the next day and then drove to Port Angeles by way of Lake Crescent. An interesting tidbit I learned while plotting our course on the internet at the RV park: Lake Crescent is known for its brilliant blue waters and amazing clarity, which are caused by a lack of nitrogen in the water, inhibiting the growth of algaes. At 660 feet, it is also one of the deepest lakes in WA. This picture does it no justice. It was beautiful.
In Port Angeles we ate at a Chinese Restaurant that we ate at with the kids while on vacation the year before we moved to Washington. Before eating there, they said they didn't like Chinese food. Afterwards, they were fans. The food was still just as great as we remembered.
This sign is for my mom.
Our last stop was Hurricane Ridge the Olympic National Park.
